THE EXTENDED CAB MIDLUM "FPT" FIRE TENDER TO STAR ON THE RENAULT TRUCKS STAND AT THE FIREFIGHTERS' CONVENTION
The noble and distinctive character of fire-fighters' various missions constantly drives Renault Trucks to offer them new, even more reliable and better-equipped vehicles with more new features to help them in their day-to-day assignments. The latest of these is the latest Midlum Fire Tender (FPT). This is fitted with an extended and redesigned cab that is more easily accessible and roomier as well as an Optitronic robotised gearbox guaranteeing smooth operation, lower consumption and reduced maintenance costs. This vehicle will be displayed on the Renault Trucks stand during the 117th Fire-fighters’ Convention at Angouleme from 23 to 25 September 2010. A leader on the fire-fighting vehicle market, Renault Trucks sold 468 vehicles in 2009 and holds a 68% market share.
Launched in 2009, the new Midlum benefits from an 18 cm cab extension and a redesigned bodywork shape. A difference in size that makes it more spacious and more easy to access, improving fire-fighters' working conditions since they have to climb in and out of the cab several times a day. In the same vein, Renault Trucks now makes the Optitronic robotised gearbox available on the Midlum "fire-fighter” 4x2 versions. Apart from delivering up to 7% lower fuel consumption and reduced maintenance costs due to the elimination of engine or gearbox failure caused by over-speeding, it provides a level of day-to-day comfort which enables fire-fighters to focus all their attention on the mission in hand.
Renault Trucks offers a "fire-fighting" range which covers all fire-fighting service needs with 4x2 and 4x4 vehicles specifically dedicated to fire-fighting and rescue missions that fully comply with European standards. These vehicles are able to respond to the various missions carried out by fire-fighters (rescue operations, fires, road accidents, protection of property, etc.) and in a variety of different locations (built-up areas, forests, industrial sites, rough terrain, etc.). Detailed in the dedicated press file, these vehicles - from the New Master to the Kerax - are configured according to the purpose for which they will be used: The Master VSR (intervention and rescue vehicle), Midlum FPT (Fire Tender) and Kerax CCF (Forest Fire Tender) or others.
All benefit from Renault Trucks' experience in terms of body capacity, payload and mobility over rough terrain. Furthermore, by choosing Renault Trucks, fire-fighters know they can rely on a service provided by professionals for professionals at its 1,200 assistance centres 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
