Crowned European Truck Racing Team Champion on 3 October 2010, Renault Trucks was at the World Series by Renault meeting the following week in Barcelona (Spain). It allowed the manufacturer to present its racing trucks to the 42,000 visitors attending the event, as well as to around 100 of its customers. The various "runs" organised on board the Renault Trucks - MKR Technology team vehicles soon convinced enthusiasts that, when it comes to thrills, trucks and racing cars all speak the same language! We look back on this meeting between the worlds of racing trucks and racing cars.

For its first official appearance as European truck racing team Champion, the Renault Trucks - MKR Technology team chose the last meeting of the Worlds Series by Renault season, which took place on the Catalunya track near Barcelona on 9 and 10 October. Truck racing and car racing have several points in common from both a technical and emotional point of view. A number of fortunate people who enjoy thrills and excitement, including singer Lord Kossity, were able to experience this for themselves by taking a ride in a racing truck for a few laps around the track. The spectators also greatly enjoyed the show, as the Premium Racers with their 1,100 hp on-board (for 5.5 t) and 5,100 Nm torque showed what they can do, accelerating and sliding in spectacular fashion. There were even several "runs" organised with the racing trucks pitting themselves against the racing cars to produce a superb display that the crowds adored!

The same spectators were then also able to get a further taste of these thrills on the simulators set up on the Renault Trucks stand which were running the 2010 version of the Truck Racing by Renault Trucks video game. A huge success (with more than 600,000 downloads for the 2009 edition!), this game is very much one-of-a-kind. The player is driving a real racing truck on different tracks in "trial" mode and then in a "real" race. To stay on the track and hope to be first to cross the line means having nerves of steel and enjoying "close encounters"! Truck Racing by Renault Trucks is available as a free download on the site.

Apart from the world of racing, the 100 or more Spanish customers, as well as the other visitors to the stand, were able to get a first-hand view of the Magnum Route 66 limited edition which has just come on the market in Spain after its launch in France. Inspired by a Renault Trucks expedition in the USA on the famous Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles, this limited edition combines two legends; those of Route 66 and the Magnum - the brand's emblematic vehicle considered by many to be a benchmark for road transport. The Premium Long Distance Optifuel, a vehicle from the Long Haul range optimised for consumption, was also displayed on the stand, together with the Midlum Optitronic from the Distribution range, fitted with its similarly named robotised gearbox. Visitors were also able to view the Sherpa which took part in the Renault Trucks Cape to Cape expedition from March to July 2009, during which a caravan of trucks journeyed from Cape North in Norway to the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.
