Optifuel Tour 2011 : 500 customers won over by season 3

The 2011 Optifuel Tour road show, travelling through 9 European countries, has been a real success for Renault Trucks. Almost 500 transport companies have been able to test the potential for fuel savings using the manufacturer’s Optifuel Solutions in real-life conditions, with vehicles from the Long Distance range.

Renault Trucks’ Optifuel Tour 2011, third edition, set off once again this year to meet the manufacturer’s European customers between April and October 2011. The road tour convoy, featuring a Magnum 480 hp and 4 and four Premium Optifuel 460 hp equipped with the Optidriver+ robotised gearbox, brought in 500 customers over the 9 stages: Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany and Turkey.

The objective: through tests, to show the efficiency of Renault Trucks’ Optifuel Solutions in sustainably reducing fuel costs, which on average represent one quarter of hauliers’ operating expenses. Each stage was an opportunity for customers to take part in technical workshops to discover these solutions, what they could do for them, and how easy they are to put in place, and more particularly, to test them via dynamic tests on the road.

Renault Trucks’ Optifuel Solutions, which have been going since 2007, comprise two complementary components. Optifuel Technology includes the best of Renault Trucks technology in terms of fuel savings, such as SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), the Optidriver+ robotised gearbox, Optiroll, which uses the vehicle’s inertia to reduce consumption, Euro V DXi11 and DXi13 engines, accessories dedicated to reducing fuel consumption, such as side deflectors or easily-adjustable roof deflectors, which don’t require tools.

The second component, Optifuel Programme, includes training in rational driving (Optifuel Training), access to the Club Optifuel Programme, a website to guide each customer through their day-to-day fuel consumption reduction strategy, and most importantly, Optifuel Infomax, a tool to measure and analyse fuel consumption, which is unique on the market. During the Optifuel Tour, one of the workshops was, for example, dedicated to the discovery of this software’s functionalities.

All Optifuel Solutions are installed on the Premium Optifuel series vehicle that participants were able to drive during the 2011 road tour.

As a pioneer in the field of solutions designed to sustainably reduce its vehicles’ consumption, Renault Trucks is convinced that customer interest in Optifuel Solutions will continue to grow, as shown by the increasing number of drivers who have been trained through the Optifuel Training program: 21,000 to date. This is a success story which suggests great things ahead for Renault Trucks’ development, and competitivity for its clients!
