Joint project agreements signed to set up a new experimental assembly line at Bourg-en-Bresse
Rhône-Alpes Regional President Jean-Jack Queyranne, together with General Council President Rachel Mazuir and Marc Demulsant, Regional Subprefect, representing the State, were Renault Trucks' guests at the Bourg-en-Bresse (01) site on Friday 18 December. Each of these representatives signed the agreements relating to the H&DL (Hybrid, alternative energy and Development Line) joint project, together with Olivier Vidal, Renault Trucks VP Manufacturing. This project concerns the setting up of a new Research & Development dedicated assembly-line which will enable pre-production models of new HGV ranges to be produced so that the increasingly stringent regulatory, technical and environmental safeguards that are being applied to truck manufacturing can be met. The project was granted official recognition by the VIAMECA competitive cluster last spring and will continue until December 2013.

Every year, the Mayors’ and Local Authorities’ Show attracts elected French politicians seeking solutions to problems concerning the management of their institutions. Through the technical solutions that the French truck manufacturer is able to bring them, and the latter currently has 70% of the market share for local authority vehicles, Renault Trucks is a major partner. Today, the authorities are looking closely at environmental solutions and Renault Trucks will be presenting the 100% electric Renault Maxity at the Salon des Maires from November 17th to 19th 2009. The urban light commercial vehicle par excellence, Maxity electric emits no atmospheric pollution and no sound pollution. One of Renault Trucks’ alternative solutions is a natural gas vehicles range and the manufacturer is already experimenting with hybrid technologies with its customers in the field.

Renault Trucks cuts its energy consumption and develops renewable resources
Renault Trucks is committed to reducing the impact of its activities on the environment, and makes considerable efforts to achieve this goal. Apart from innovative solutions for reducing CO2 emissions from the trucks themselves, RT has also cut its energy consumption per vehicle produced by almost 50%. This has been achieved by modernising its plants, installing solar or photovoltaic panels on its buildings and investing in the energies of the future, fully in line with the objectives laid down by the "Grenelle" summit on the environment.

Renault Trucks and Coca-Cola Enterprises Belgium (CCEB) are joining forces to reduce the environmental impact of their activities. To achieve this, Renault Trucks is making a test vehicle with a hybrid propulsion system available to Coca-Cola Enterprises Belgium - a move which will speed up development of the Renault Premium Distribution Hybrys Tech by having it used under actual operating conditions. Furthermore, Renault Trucks is training HGV drivers in rational driving via the Optifuel Programme. Initiatives which are designed to significantly reduce fuel consumption - and proportionately lower carbon dioxide emissions.
The Colas group is given the keys of a Renault Trucks hybrid vehicle
Renault Trucks is continuing to develop and perfect its hybrid vehicle by setting up partnerships with its customers and inviting them to test it under actual operating conditions. Always concerned by its environmental impact, the Colas Group has become one of RT’s partners for this project, and on 15 September, its President and CEO, Hervé Le Bouc, was presented with the keys of a Premium Distribution Hybrys Tech. Fitted with a tipper body, this vehicle will be used for supplying road construction sites. This partnership's tangible initiatives prove the two companies' commitment to protecting the environment.

On July 16th, Renault Trucks handed over the keys of nine Renault Premium Distribution 410 26 T 6x2s to Rudy Goossens, Division Transport Manager at Coca-Cola Enterprises Belgium. The nine vehicles are a first instalment of no fewer than ninety which will supplement Coca-Cola’s Belgian fleet between now and 2010.

Road accident on the Cape to Cape expedition
On the road 104, between Iringa and Makamabako, in Tanzania, a Tanzanian lorry coming from the opposite direction swerved to the Cape to Cape convoy. It hit slightly the truck in front of the column (Kerax 2), knocking off its right side mirror, then headed towards the second truck (Kerax 1). The driver of the latter was forced to make an avoiding manoeuvre towards the verge, where the truck laid on its side. The Tanzanian lorry went on swerving and overturned as well.

Cape-to-Cape expedition in Turkey: an experience in humility
The Cape-to-Cape adventure continues and the difficulties increase. The commercial stop in Istanbul and its rain-sodden, muddy terrain was just a taster of what was awaiting the male and female drivers of the Cape-to-Cape expedition. Faithful to its road map, the convoy crossed Turkey North-West to South-East, passing through Anatolia and Cappadocia. The road and its inherent traps required even greater driving expertise than the mud of Istanbul.
During Cape-to-Cape’s visit to Saint Petersburg, TranKo confirms an order for 70 Renault Premium Long Distance trucks
The Cape-to-Cape Keraxes and Sherpas arrived in Saint Petersburg on March 10th, just 10 days after their departure from North Cape. At an event organised by the local Renault Trucks subsidiary for the expedition’s visit, TranKo confirmed an order for 70 Premium Long Distance trucks to be delivered by Renault Trucks during the first half of 2009, on top of the 50 already delivered in 2008. That means that over half of their fleet will be Renault Trucks vehicles. TranKo is one of the leaders on the Russian national container carrier market.
Cape-to-Cape expedition: from Russia to Ukraine
For its final stage through the land of the Tsars, Renault Trucks’ Cape-to-Cape expedition stuck camp on Monday March 16th in Voronej before going out to meet its customers and some secondary school children in the South-West of the country. Now out of Russia, the Cape-to-Cape expedition will be conforming to Ukrainian culture at a gala evening in honour of its members held at the Kiev Exhibition Park. But before that, the convoy had to wait over 24 hours on the border between Russia and the Ukraine.

On Thursday December 17th, Jan-Eric Sundgren, Environment and Public Affairs Director of Volvo Group, of which Renault Trucks is a subsidiary, will be in Lyon to hand over an Academic Partner Program certificate to INSA (national applied sciences institute). Renault Trucks works with secondary schools in the Calvados region to raise awareness about the world of manufacturing

This was the objective a Renault Trucks team from Blainville-sur-Orne set itself designed to inform secondary school children in the Calvados region of France about its activity. Via a number of different instructional and entertaining workshops, this Renault Trucks vocational guidance project allows pupils on the verge of deciding which career path they should follow to find out about different occupations in manufacturing and start to plan their professional future. Other initiatives by Renault Trucks introducing young people to the world of road transport have already been implemented. These include issuing an educational kit and a strip cartoon designed to raise awareness of road safety issues, as well as the partnership with the Word Truck.

Following an invitation to tender, the Tunisian Loan and Support Fund for Local Authorities (CPSCL) has selected Renault Trucks to supply the refuse collection and roadworks equipment it requires. Scheduled for delivery in the near future, the 226 vehicles concerned are mainly Midlums and Premium Landers.
Renault Trucks signs new contracts in the Middle East for over 100 vehicles
Having visited the Bourg-en-Bresse site and test driven the vehicles at the La Valbonne (Isère) test centre, Iraqi and Libyan customers confirmed their intentions to buy. With these commercial boosters for 75 new and 30 used vehicles, Renault Trucks strengthens its position on some of the most dynamic markets of the Middle East.
Cape to Cape: mission accomplished
Monday July 6th: the Cape to Cape convoy has arrived at the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, the final destination of its journey. After a little over four months of adventures and all sorts of ups and downs, both teams and machines ended up meeting the challenge. Stefano Chmielewski, CEO of Renault Trucks, was there to welcome them, expressing his pride at their achievement. But before winding down after the finish line, the participants had to avoid a number of traps in the final stages.

The Cape to Cape expedition in Moscow – a capital event!
Once it had completed its stopover in the city of Peter the Great, St Petersburg, the Cape to Cape caravan headed off on the road again towards the Russian capital, where it finally drew up on Thursday 12 March. The following morning, the red Renault Trucks vehicles were on show just a few hundred metres from Red Square, for a sales event attracting many keenly interested officials, RT customers and journalists – at which the words “Na zdorovie tovaritch!” (Good health, comrade!) could be heard all around.

Designed to promote Optifuel consumption-cutting solutions to its customers, the Renault Trucks "Optifuel Tour" convoy has just completed its tour of France. After travelling from Auxerre to Toulon and Narbonne to Poitiers, almost 600 customers have tried out vehicles from the Construction and Long Distance ranges. This gave them a hands-on opportunity to appreciate the robotised Optidriver+ gearbox's efficiency and the fuel savings they could achieve, while still increasing their journey speed - all thanks to Optifuel rational driving instruction and the consumption monitoring Infomax software. After all this success in France, Optifuel Tour is now all set to continue throughout Europe in 2010.

During his visit to the Renault Trucks plant at Bourg-en-Bresse, Patrick Devedjian, the Minister with responsibility for implementing the National Recovery Plan, was presented with the keys to a Renault Kerax Euro V. This is one of 105 vehicles ordered to anticipate French public authority needs within the framework of an invitation to tender issued by the UGAP and won by Renault Trucks in February 2009. Welcomed by Stefano Chmielewski, CEO of Renault Trucks SAS, Patrick Devedjian visited the Construction and Distribution assembly lines and reasserted his support for the HGV truck building sector.
Renault Trucks delivers 13 natural gas vehicles in Norway for even cleaner refuse collection
Renault Trucks is continuing to demonstrate its commitment to preserving the environment by offering alternative solutions. This was clearly demonstrated on 25 September 2009 in Oslo, when 13 vehicles running on CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) were delivered to hauliers Mathisen Renovasjon AS. These vehicles will be operated to collect domestic waste in the Norwegian capital on behalf of Veolia Environmental Services.
First edition of the Renault Trucks Optifuel Tour
Renault Trucks is setting out to meet its customers via the Optifuel Tour 2009. This initiative has twin objectives: to clearly demonstrate the savings made possible by Optifuel solutions - a unique offering on the market designed to help customers reduce the proportion of their operating costs devoted to fuel - and thereby build closer ties with its sales network. The Optifuel Tour will be visiting eight dealerships between now and the end of 2009. Leading UK food retailer, Iceland, has taken delivery of 29 Renault Premium Long Distance 450.18, 4x2 tractor units through Renault Trucks’ UK fleet sales team. It’s an important deal for Renault Trucks as they are the first Renaults to join the company’s 310-strong fleet. The Euro 5 incentive trucks are all fitted with the Optidriver+ gearbox.

Renault Trucks Midlands, located on the Black Country New Road, Tipton, is celebrating winning the prestigious 2009 Motor Transport Dealer of the Year Award. The award was announced at the official awards dinner, at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, London, on Wednesday 1st July, with Renault Trucks Midlands beating four other finalists to win the coveted title.
Renault Trucks donates 27 trucks for young people’s training
In June, the students of 25 vocational colleges and training centres specialising in commercial vehicles received a donation of 27 trucks from Renault Trucks. The vehicles concerned fall into the Renault Premium Long Distance 420hp category. They will be used as teaching aids for their lessons. Through this action, Renault Trucks is supporting colleges and apprenticeship structures in the area of commercial vehicles and familiarising future specialised technicians with its products.
Cape to Cape expedition : Kilimandjaro to Zambia
The Cape to Cape expedition, which has entered Tanzania, is beginning its descent towards the port of Dar es Salaam on the Indian Ocean. On extremely muddy tracks, the drivers have had to feel their way skilfully to avoid getting stuck in the mud and have once again benefited from the formidable fording capacities of the Keraxes and, when the going has got really bad, the solidarity of their fellow team members! But the Dar es Salaam passage beneath a magnificent sunset over the Indian Ocean plus the warm welcome in Zambia were compensation enough for their efforts.
The Cape to Cape expedition: already two months of thrills and 14,000 kilometers under their belts: the halfway stage report
The mission of the Cape to Cape expedition was to cover the distance from the North Cape to the Cape of Good Hope, leaving Norway on March 1st and arriving in South Africa on July 8th. In all, six Keraxes and six Sherpas will travel the 30,000 kilometres between the two Capes under extreme climatic conditions: from biting cold to searing heat! And what about the vehicles that have tackled such hostile conditions? At the halfway stage, the situation is positive. Here, we look back at two months of adventure.
Renault Trucks rolls out its network in Russia
With the inauguration of its new dealership in Kaliningrad in March, Renault Trucks entered a new phase in the international development of its network. Located in the West of Russia, Lorry Service is the 29th Sales and Service outlet in the Russian network. This geographically and economically strategic location allows the French truck manufacturer to cover the area running West to East from Kaliningrad to Krasnoïarsk.
The Cape-to-Cape expedition switches continents and heads towards the Middle East
The Cape-to-Cape expedition took on a new dimension with the Istanbul stage. Four Kerax and two Sherpas left the North Cape. In the Turkish capital, a further two Kerax and four Sherpas join them. Thus, it was at the intersection between Europe and Asia that the two convoys joined up to start up the eastern leg of the trip. The Istanbul juncture was also an important moment commercially.

Luc Chatel announces implementation of the Automobile Pact on a visit to Renault Trucks
Secretary of State for Consumer Affairs and Industry Luc Chatel visited the Renault Trucks site in Saint-Priest (69) last Thursday 12 March and announced the implementation of the Automobile Pact. For the heavy trucks branch, the Pact should include a loan of 250 million euros to Renault Trucks to allow the company to finance research into cleaner vehicles and to ensure compliance with Euro 6 standards that will enter into effect in 2013.
Cape To Cape expedition on the (rough) road of the Tsars
A mere two days after the start, our Cape To Cape adventurers already had to attend to serious business! After a mild off-road excursion for one of the Sherpa units, the team encountered some Russian folklore right at the border; and they had to wait it out for 16 long hours! But, not to worry, group moral was strong and they were warmly welcomed.
2008 sees Renault Trucks strengthening its position on its markets and laying solid foundations for the future
In a highly contrasted economic climate in 2008, Renault Trucks strengthened its position on its markets, in spite of a slight fall-off in sales. In the over-6 ton category, the manufacturer’s market share (registrations) increased by almost one percentage point in the 27-country area of the EC (EC27), and by 1.7 in France. For light commercial vehicles, the same markets showed progression of 0.2 and 0.6% respectively. Internationally, sales leapt 27%.

Renault Trucks Strasbourg installs a photovoltaic roof on its Fast&Pro workshop
Renault Trucks knows how to reconcile eco-friendly initiatives, innovative offers and high quality customer service. This has been demonstrated once again at the new Fast&Pro workshop in Strasbourg (France). This facility, covering 370 sq. m., has now been fitted with 160 sq. m. of photovoltaic panels on its roof using discreet architecture to ensure they blend harmoniously into the environment. Set up in 2006, the Fast&Pro network enables LCV owners to benefit from Renault Trucks' extensive HGV expertise applied to their needs in terms of advice, sales and aftersales.
Kerax wins Russia's "Best heavy goods vehicle 2009" Award
During the International Autotransport Forum (MAF), recently held in Moscow, Renault Kerax was presented with the "Best Vehicle of the Year over 33 Tonnes" award. The jury, made up of hauliers, MAF members, public authority representatives, scientists and journalists, commended this vehicle for its "superior class". Enjoying an excellent reputation, Kerax is particularly suited to the severe climate and challenging operating conditions it will encounter in Russia.
Renault Trucks pursues the development of its network in the UK
Stefano Chmielewski, President of Renault Trucks SAS has inaugurated on October 8th the new custom built dealership in the centre of England industry. Located at Burlington Road on the Bermuda Industrial Estate at Nuneaton, near Birmingham, this new dealership is the company’s wholly owned dealer network group. A total of £4 million has been invested in the new site named Renault Trucks Coventry, for sale, after-sale and maintenance of industrials vehicles. The total network currently comprises over 65 locations, plus a further four dealerships in the Irish Republic. Among them, 11 are wholly owned by Renault Trucks.
Renault Trucks will be delivering 50 additional used vehicles to Essahab in Libya
After taking delivery of 30 used Renault Premium 420 hp vehicles in June, Essahab, the main Renault Trucks importer in Libya, has placed a new order for an additional 50 units. These vehicles will be used for fuel distribution.

Renault Trucks sets up a subsidiary in Finland and states its case for the Scandinavian market
To contribute to the development of its international network, Renault Trucks has set up its own subsidiary in Finland. As part of Renault Trucks Nordic (combining the manufacturer’s activities on the Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish markets), the new subsidiary, Renault Trucks Finland Oy, will soon be open to Finnish customers manned by skilled, Renault Trucks-trained staff.
Renault Trucks gives its customers access to low emission zones with its “EEV” range
Even more stringent than Euro V standards, EEV (Enhanced Environmentally-friendly Vehicle) is the strictest standard there is in road transport. Through it, Renault Trucks is committing to environmental protection by offering EEV standards on its Premium Long Distance, Premium Distribution, Premium Lander, Kerax and Magnum (DXi11 and DXi13 engines). This will satisfy the needs of customers who wish to develop their activities in restricted access areas reserved for the cleanest vehicles, or simply to limit as far as possible their environmental impact.
Llyods Transport won over by Renault Trucks
West Midlands based freight logistics company, Lloyds Transport, has taken delivery of 10 new Renault Premium Route 450.25 tractor units, through Renault Trucks Midlands. The 6x2, Euro 5 Incentive trucks join a 35-strong mixed fleet, following company trials of all major manufacturers.

Renault Trucks has chosen Intermat to present two new versions of the Premium Lander as a world premier: its 8 x 2*6 profile and the extra-light cement mixer.
Renault Trucks Fast&Pro: at long last a service entirely dedicated to light commercial vehicles
Halfway between a car and a truck, the light commercial vehicle often has difficulty finding a place for itself in sales and service outlets. In order to satisfy the requirements of professionals who use them daily, Renault Trucks has set up Fast&Pro, a customised sales and maintenance service which is entirely dedicated to this type of vehicle. France has 40 outlets of this type including the four new centres in Poitiers, Boulogne-sur-Mer, Clermont Ferrand and Albertville, all receiving accreditation in February. Renault Trucks plans to reach one hundred Fast&Pro outlets at the end of 2010.

After months and months of preparation, the Renault Trucks vehicles and members of the Cape to Cape expedition travelling from Cape North (Norway) to the Cape of Good Hope (South Africa) finally set out on 1st March. The first stages will see them facing up to the wind and the cold as they cross the spectacular Norvegian landscape in winter.
