Premium Truck Racing 2013: low on fuel, high on thrills

After the commercial success enjoyed by the first special edition introduced in 2010, Renault Trucks is updating its Premium Truck Racing offering with a new, 2013 version. The vehicle retains everything that made it so distinctive - an exterior and interior design evoking the MKR Technology-Renault Trucks team victories in the European Truck Racing Championships, combined with the on-road qualities of the Premium Long Distance which have made it the champion of low fuel consumption.

You don't change a winning team. The new 2012 Truck Racing team championship crown earned by the MKR Technology-Renault Trucks team spurred Renault Trucks into renewing its offering. The Premium Trucks Racing 2013 is available as a 4x2 tractor (or 6x2 for the UK market) fitted with a DXi11 460 hp engine and the Optidriver+ robotised gearbox.

This new special edition guarantees a distinctive driving experience, creating a racing environment while at the same time providing the on-road performance and low consumption which have forged the Premium Long Distance's unique reputation.

The vehicle's exterior echoes the aspects of the competition vehicle, proudly displaying the figure 01, symbolising its victory on the track and acknowledging the number of the Ain département, where the Bourg-en-Bresse plant that manufactures the vehicle is located. It features aluminium rims, body colour rearview mirrors and a black radiator grille framed in red to give it additional dynamic impact. Inside, the driver is welcomed by customised grey upholstery boasting the "Renault Trucks Racing" name and a steering wheel with red leather trim.

Under the hood, the DXi 11 does not offer the 1,160 hp equipping the racing version, but the two engines are related, as Maxime Le Bech, Renault Trucks Racing's engine designer explained in 2010: "More than 80% of the racing engine is based on the production engine as required by FIA regulations. The strength of the DXi11 lies in the maximum torque it delivers at low engine speeds. Whether on the racetrack or the road, we have the same aim: reliability and performance!" The Premium Truck Racing 2013 is available now in all European countries. With this new special edition version, Renault Trucks gives its customers the opportunity of sharing the pride and prestige of the manufacturer's competition victories while at the same time offering a reliable and cost efficient working tool.
