For the 2012 season, Renault Sport F1 is once again being served by a fleet of 36 520 hp Renault Magnums for its own logistics operations and those of three other teams using Renault engines: Red Bull Racing, current world champions, the Lotus F1 Team and the Caterham F1 Team. These Renault Magnum vehicles have been chosen by the French engine manufacturer as much for the technology they feature as for their image of excellence. Throughout the season, they will be carrying the single seater cars, the engines and spare parts as well as providing technical support for the meetings or the teams' catering.
Renault Trucks and Renault Sport F1 have been partners for more than 10 years. At the beginning of every new season, the engine manufacturer receives a fleet of latest generation Magnum vehicles. Six of these boast the engine manufacturer's official livery. The others are devoted to logistics and the promotion of the three major teams which are equipped with Renault RS27 engines. Red Bull Racing, current holders of the world championship crown, benefit from 8 Magnums, the Lotus F1 Team 13 Magnums and the Caterham F1 Team 9 Magnums. But why Magnums? "The world of F1 is a world of excellence. With Magnum, we project the same type of prestigious image and the philosophy of excellence. It's the best there is," explains Jean-Pierre Raymond, security and logistics manager for Renault Sport F1. "These trucks carry extremely costly and sensitive instruments that have an incredible promotional impact. For Renault Sport F1, it is vital to have vehicles of this calibre to protect our equipment and our engineers' expertise," he continues.
Jean-François Caubet, Managing Director of Renault Sport F1 points out: "Thanks to our partnership with Renault Trucks, we benefit from totally dependable vehicles at the very cutting edge of technology which perfectly meet our needs for covering the European Championship meetings. We proudly display the Renault Trucks colours in the F1 paddock for all the world to see and this enables Renault Trucks to build on Renault's fame in Formula 1 to publicise its latest products. This really is a win-win partnership."
The vehicles are Renault Magnum 4x2 520 hp 19 t tractors featuring all available options and benefiting from the "Excellence" finish. In particular, the cab is equipped with a fridge, a CD MP3 + Bluetooth radio and an intelligent speed regulator (soft cruise control). The drivers are equipped with NavTruck, the only HGV dedicated GPS system, available as an application for iPhone or Android and developed by Renault Trucks.
