On the Czech Republic’s Most circuit, the Renault Trucks-MKR Technology team was more or less on home turf, where the Czech Republic-based team does most of its testing. Tearing around at 160 km/h and afraid of nothing and no-one, the Renault Trucks vehicles once again provided a great show featuring up amongst the front runners all weekend. With two victories in the form of Renault Trucks-MKR Technology, doubles the brand certainly made its mark. In the championship, they are only eleven points behind the leading team.
The sixth Grand Prix of the European Truck Racing Championship was held this weekend on the Most circuit in the Czech Republic. The primarily Czech was racing “at home” since its base is just a few kilometres from the track. Whilst the Renault Trucks-MKR Technology team could hardly respect the basic rules of hospitality as hosts, they certainly respected the rules of competition and thrilled their local supporters by taking two victories in a double with Markus Bosiger first and Markus Oestreich second. With this very good result, Renault Trucks-MKR Technology has shored up its second place in the team championship just eleven points behind the leader. With three races left, it’s not over yet! In the driver rankings, Markus Bosiger is still 3rd but just six points from the 2nd placed driver and Markus Oestreich has climbed to 4th place with this weekend’s performance.
In highly changeable weather conditions, with the rain (and some oil too!) coming down in mid-race, we witnessed two big turnarounds, some very competitive race situations and a number of brushes between those involved. With no technical incident disrupting the battle, the two “Markuses” were in the top spots over the two days, both in tests and warm-ups.
The next Grand Prix will take place in Zolder, Belgium, on September 11th and 12th, just before the big date in France at Le Mans on the legendary Bugatti circuit. There again Renault Trucks will be playing on home turf… their competitors now understand that this is not necessarily very good news for them.
