Renault Trucks is continuing to develop and perfect its hybrid vehicle by setting up partnerships with its customers and inviting them to test it under actual operating conditions. Always concerned by its environmental impact, the Colas Group has become one of RT’s partners for this project, and on 15 September, its President and CEO, Hervé Le Bouc, was presented with the keys of a Premium Distribution Hybrys Tech. Fitted with a tipper body, this vehicle will be used for supplying road construction sites. This partnership's tangible initiatives prove the two companies' commitment to protecting the environment.
Having developed a close relationship over a period of several years, Renault Trucks and Colas are now joining forces in tangible initiatives to implement their commitment to protecting the environment. This was clearly demonstrated when Stefano Chmielewski, Renault Trucks's CEO, presented the keys of a Renault Premium Distribution Hybrys Tech to Hervé le Bouc, President and CEO of Colas, on 15 September. It is a partnership which will enable this type of vehicle to be developed in configurations suitable for a very wide range of activities and clearly reveal the interest and demand its customers have for hybrid technology, so ideally suited to urban applications. For it is hoped that significant gains can be made when operating in the electrical mode for mobility over very short distances or via the use of auxiliary handling equipment.
The hybrid vehicle, fitted with a tipper body, will be used to supply bulk materials to the Colas Group's various construction sites in built-up areas. Still in the test phase, its daily use will provide a great deal of valuable information for Renault Trucks, allowing the manufacturer to further improve its expertise in hybrid technology, with the ultimate aim of producing such vehicles on an industrial scale.
The Renault Premium Distribution Hybrys Tech has been developed around a 4x2 Renault Premium Distribution with a steering axle in the rear, giving it the extra manoeuvrability it will need to successfully negotiate city streets. It is equipped with a DXi7 Euro V 340 hp diesel engine associated with an electric motor, the Optidriver+ gearbox and an electrical assembly located in the wheelbase, which includes the traction batteries, control electronics, power distribution circuits and the cooling system.
