TRUCK RACING: RENAULT TRUCKS MKR-TECHNOLOGY BECOMES EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP FRONT RUNNERS

There is no doubt about it. The Renault Trucks-MKR Technology team's supremacy was undisputed during the 2010 edition of the Zolder Grand Prix in Belgium. With two pole position starts and three individual triumphs, Renault Trucks-MKR Technology once again left its mark on the weekend. With only two more races in the European Truck Racing Championships to go, the team is now topping the rankings. Suspense is therefore building, barely one week before the Le Mans 24 hour Truck Race, the penultimate event of the season.

Sun and rain both made their contribution to the Grand Prix weekend in Belgium, the 7th leg of the European Truck Racing Championship on 11 and 12 September. The very pleasant weather on Saturday gave way to constant rain throughout the Sunday. However, this was an excellent opportunity for the Racing Premiums to demonstrate their excellent roadholding under these very difficult conditions.

During the four races, the two MKR Technology team drivers succeeded in winning three of them, taking it in turns to occupy the top step of the podium! Markus Bösiger triumphed during the first race on the Saturday (with Oestreich coming in 3rd) and in the second race on the Sunday. With a lead of more than 32 seconds, Markus Oestreich was clearly in command of the first race on the Sunday, while during the second Sunday race, the two "Markus" drivers pulled off a superb one-two, finishing the weekend in style and making the MKII-Technology team the Championship leaders!

After this leg of the Championship, the German Markus Oestreich came away with 48 points, while his Swiss team-mate Marcus Bösiger earned 41. With a total of 262 points, Markus Bösiger moves up one place to 2nd, while Marcus Oestreich consolidated his 4th place in the individual classification. This flood of very good results takes Renault Trucks-MKR Technology to the front of the team rankings, 29 points ahead of their closest rival. However, with two legs of the championship still to go, the team has to maintain its determination and focus on the next event, due to take place at Le Mans on 18 and 19 September.

During this racing weekend in Belgium, Renault Trucks Benelux clearly announced its role as a major competition partner with banners, streamers and other kakémonos in the company colours floating at various points around the track. Not to mention the fact that the Pace Truck for the four races was a limited edition Magnum "Route 66"! Furthermore, the Renault Trucks subsidiary had invited almost 1,000 customers and prospects to visit the Renault Trucks Racing and Renault Trucks Benelux visitors' areas. The second of these featured a superb trackside terrace offering a spectacular, unhampered view of all the action. On Sunday, subsidiary guests were invited to an autograph signing session with the two drivers. As at Misano, there was also a boutique offering official Renault Trucks merchandise, and this was the first time that the Super Trucky keyring had been on sale, an item which proved to be extremely popular! Finally, the Renault Trucks Racing stand was showcasing a virtually definitive version of the new Truck Racing by Renault Trucks video game.
