A few weeks before the Le Mans 24 Hour Race, Renault Trucks is delivering three of its “T” long haul vehicles to Signatech-Alpine. This is the first stage of a partnership between the manufacturer and the racing team which is taking part in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). The French manufacturer and the racing team will therefore be joining forces to “fly the French colours” as Alpine brand founder, Jean Rédélé, put it.
“This enables Alpine to proudly fly the French colours,” stated Jean Rédélé, founder of the Alpine brand in 1955, when General De Gaulle questioned him with regard to the usefulness of such an initiative. Now, more than 60 years later, Renault Trucks and Signatech-Alpine are following the same path and have decided to forge a partnership.
Coming from very different worlds, the truck manufacturer and the racing car builder do share common values. “The notions of endurance, efficiency and close relationships are all values we uphold and which mean something to our clients,” explains Bruno Blin, Renault Trucks’ president. “Our trucks are designed to be efficient, emphasising the importance of payload and reliability to benefit our clients’ productivity. Furthermore, both we and Signatech-Alpine have a close relationship with our clients and are proud of being French companies.”
“It is with great pride and much enthusiasm that we are beginning this partnership with Renault Trucks in the World Endurance Championships and 24 Hour Le Mans race,” stated Philippe Sinault, Team Principal for Signatech-Alpine. “If there is one partnership that really means something, it is the one which links the two prestigious brands of Renault Trucks and Alpine. Values associated with technology, performance, reliability and, above all, human values, which are key to the success of these French standard-bearers. On the track, this season, we will try to be the fastest in Alpine, while on the road, we will deliver high-performance with Renault Trucks.”
This partnership is beginning with the delivery of three Renault Trucks Ts, voted International truck of the year in 2015 by a jury of 25 specialised journalists. The vehicles to be delivered are two 4x2 tractors fitted with Euro 6 DTI 13 520 hp engines and Voith® retarders plus a 480 hp model with an Optibrake retarder. All three vehicles will feature an Optidriver automated manual gearbox as well as a set of intelligent technologies brought together in the Fuel eco pack (inhibited power mode, eco-cruise control with Optiroll controlled freewheel mode, a disengageable air compressor, variable flow steering pump and automatic engine cutout). This Fuel Eco pack enables the vehicle’s fuel consumption to be cut by 4%.
Apart from supplying the vehicles, the partnership between Renault Trucks and Signatech-Alpine will be built around supplying Renault Trucks T vehicles, staff at the various events, particularly the 24 Hour Le Mans race, but also the truck and motorcycle events.
